Another week has flown by and with it the baby goats on the farm have gotten a bit bigger, Cedar has gotten a bit older, and life seems to speed by at warp speed.
This week brought some friends of ours in from out of town that we haven’t seen in 2 years and the biggest play date ever. If you can imagine, our friends that came to town have 7, we have 6, and the friends who hosted the playdate have 6. That’s a WHOLE lot of kiddos. In case you aren’t counting that’s 19 kids and lots of laughs. Cedar was not hurting for attention, that’s for sure. He is doted on by so many and I can’t help but feel that the exposure for all of these kids is fantastic as they will all have a reference point for Down Syndrome that has been presented in a positive light. Unfortunately with all the chaos I never did get a picture but I promise, it would have been a wild one.
In therapy this week I was able to tell our therapist that Cedar had actually gotten himself into a 4 point crawl position on 2 different occasions this week and gone 4 paces on his own. We ended up working on walking, weight bearing and balance this week in therapy, which was great as we give him the skills he is going to need for independent standing and walking.
We finished out the week heading to our local farmer’s market this morning and I had the most amazing encounter. I stopped at the booth of a woman who was selling glass art and we struck up a conversation about her craft (as it is one I have wanted to learn for years) As we chatted we discovered that we both had lots of children (she had me beat by one) and that we both homeschooled and had businesses selling handmade art (mine is 6ArrowsDesigns- Awareness jewelry) But, here is the best part, she mentioned in our conversation that she had a young son with Down Syndrome! I immediately called my husband over (he was holding Cedar and she hadn’t noticed Cedar yet) The conversation took on a whole new level of familiarity at this point and we exchanged numbers. I cannot tell you how many times this extra chromosome has brought me close to strangers and there is a draw there that is inexplicable.
Lastly, I will leave you with a smile. Cedar has started showing off his muscles. Dare you not to laugh.

What great posture, and good job bending those knees while walking, Cedar! 👏 My granddaughter, Emme, is working on her standing and walking skills too. I never before realized the amount of mechanics that go into what many take for granted. Being part of this journey fills me with such unexpected wonder and joy beyond measure!😊 I so enjoy all your posts!

Its so true, I never gave a thought to how we learn to sit, roll, crawl and walk before having Cedar. My other children just did it with no effort so learning the how is huge.
